Give yourself a treat and help support Harrogate’s independent food and drink businesses during COVID-19

Taste something different

While supermarket shelves are struggling to remain stocked during the pandemic, local farms and produce shops are still fully stocked with all your essentials. Fodder is still open, with the shop following government guidelines; they sell everything from locally sourced fruit and vegetable to freshly baked goods. The Cheeseboard is selling a range of cheese, crackers and chutney for you all to enjoy a nibble on while you’re stuck inside. For delightful breads, pastries and other baked treats Bakeri Baltzersen are running a home delivery service throughout the pandemic.

Perhaps you’re not fancying cooking tonight or fancy a treat, plenty of restaurants are offering delivery services – many of which have joined with JustEat or Deliveroo to supply these services. Vivido Bar & Restaurant are doing delivery services of all your favourite Italian dishes. Over at Farmhouse, you can get your favourite Farmhouse classics as well as try out new menu treats. FISK have a huge range of dishes with international flair and delicious taste available to enjoy from the comfort of your home. If you prefer supporting locals and getting fresh pizza, Major Tom’s Social are now doing pizza and snacks via Just Eat. And for dessert, enjoy Suzetta crepes who are offering delivery services of delicious Nutella filled treats and scrumptious fruity crepes.

Enjoy a drink

Are you missing your locally brewed beers? Head online where Cold Bath Brewing are delivering cases of lager or pale ales straight to your door. The wonderful North Brewing Co are also taking online orders with a wide range of beers available – treat yourself to a locally brewed pint. North Bar and Rooster’s Taproom, as well as doing their online shops, are also hosting virtual pub quizzes which are posted on their social media. Grab a locally brewed pint and gather virtually with your friends for a proper pub quiz.

If gin is more to your taste, Whitaker’s Gin still have their online shop open with a large variety of gin and special offers currently on, it’s guaranteed to help you survive lockdown at home.

Help the locals

As some businesses still get to grips with delivery services and online ordering, you can continue to support them in other ways; many allowing you to buy vouchers for future meals out and offering other products. Although Thug Sandwich Co are still working on an online ordering system, which I’m sure we’ll be using once up and running, they’re still selling their merchandise online so why not buy a t-shirt and support the wonderful team there?

Choosing independent food and drink doesn’t only allow you to have fresh local produce easily delivered but also lets the teams behind these small businesses continue to do what they love most.
